2009 Supply Chain Management Educators’ Conference (SCMEC)
Held annually on the Sunday prior to the start of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' Annual Global Conference, SCMEC affords academics and researchers the opportunity to submit their current research for consideration and presentation at this prestigious event. The conference–open to all academics and annual conference attendees–offers informative and interactive sessions while providing an excellent venue for networking with colleagues from around the globe.
From among those papers accepted for presentation at SCMEC, the best research is selected by the Editorial Review Panel to be awarded the distinguished E. Grosvenor Plowman Award.
The Plowman Award is given in honor of E. Grosvenor Plowman, a lifetime supporter of both CSCMP and the logistics profession. Since its inception over thirty years ago, the award has been offered annually. Originally contributed by CSCMP’s Transportation Research Fund, the monetary award for the winning paper has increased from $500.00 US in 1971 to the current sum of $1,000.00 US.
Plowman recipients are invited to present their research at SCMEC. The award winner(s) is recognized for his/her contributions during the opening session of SCMEC. The 2008 recipients of the E. Grosvenor Plowman Award are: Frank Buffa, Texas A&M University andAnthony Ross, Michigan State University for their paper titled “A Model to Measure the Consequences of Using Diverse Supplier Evaluation Teams.”
For undergraduates interested in authoring papers about an area of logistics or supply chain management, CSCMP and Dr. Brian Fugate, Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at Colorado State University have an opportunity uniquely created for you! Submit an original paper and you may be eligible to win not only $500.00 US but also a trip to the CSCMP Annual Global Conference in Chicago, September 2009. The papers are required to contain original research or innovative ideas.
The winner will receive paid travel, hotel accommodations, and complimentary registration to the conference. And, as a bonus, the winning paper will be among those published in the proceedings of the Supply Chain Management Educators’ Conference, be presented at the poster board session during the conference, and later posted on the CSCMP web site.
All submissions must be sent to Dr. Brian Fugate and received no later than May 1, 2009. Requests for additional information and questions should be directed to Brian Fugate at brian.fugate@business.colostate.edu or Kathy McInerney at kmcinerney@cscmp.org.
