Need to Attend the CSCMP Annual Global Conference?
Here’s 10 Good Reasons to Give Your Boss

The following is a conversation between Baxter and his Boss.
Boss: Baxter, we’ve got a problem. Your 3 PL isn’t living up to their deliverables. Their contract expires in December. You need to replace them.
Baxter: Well boss, that’s easy. If I could give you an in-depth look at the best 3 PL’s out there and match one or two up with what we need would you like that?
Boss: Like it? I’d probably promote you!
Baxter: Then I need to go to the CSCMP Annual Global Conference in Denver. Their track “Major 3 PL’s – An in Depth Look at Who’s The Best” is just what we need. They’ve also got a session on global 3PL trends.
Boss: Can they fix our RFID mess too?
Baxter: Yes, their session “Using RFID to Drive Operational Efficiencies: Three Real World Cases” should fill the bill and give us what we need. And they also can educate us on using RFID technology in manufacturing. Herb in Plant # 4 would love it.
Boss: Tony wants me to move our Z-ring manufacturing to India. What do you know about India?
Baxter: There’s a session devoted to “Supply Chain and India” at the conference. Not only that, but there is an entire track that will discuss emerging markets…maybe we should take a closer look at all of our options.
Boss: Sounds good, it wouldn’t hurt to learn more about all markets before moving the entire operation.
Baxter: I’ve also been talking with Lucy down in the Atlanta warehouse; she’s been having some problems implementing the Lean program we discussed with her last month.
Boss: What do you suppose we should do about it?
Baxter: Well, I can attend the session about implementing a Lean DC and get some helpful tips on how we can make the transition easier for all our warehouses and how we can develop a workable strategy.
Boss: I really don’t need any more convincing Baxter; you need to go to Denver. I can’t afford to not send you.
Baxter: Great and I’ll be sure to stop by the Student Showcase while I’m there.
Boss: For what?
Baxter: After I bring back all of these great solutions and get promoted, you’ll need a bright, young person to fill my shoes.
